A Chukchi woman rows a child's umiaq, or skinboat, across a tidal lake at the village of Lorino, Russia. Though largely replaced by aluminum skiffs for hunting, the umiaq remains an important part of the cultural heritage for both Chukchi and Yup'ik peoples.
